Bahamas for trawler with 7.5' draft

Hi:

We are former sailors, now in a trawler with a 7.5' draft. We have never cruised in the Bahamas and our speed averages 7-8 knots. We are departing from Jupiter/Palm Beach in early May and want to head to the Exumas. We'd like to avoid overnight passages as much as possible. I have a tentative plan but would like som input on it.

First leg - Palm Beach to Port Lucaya. Can be done in a day, clear customs there.

Second Leg - Port Lucaya to Northern Berry Islands. This can also be done in a day. Question is whether there are anchorages near Great Harbour suitable for our draft?

Third Leg - Berries to top of Eleuthra, near Port Royal Island. Are there good anchorages there? THis also seems like a nice day trip.

Fourth leg - around the east coast of Eleuthra and into Exuma Sound. This will be a bit longer leg, but once in the Sound, seems like we're home free with plenty of good anchorages.

Would appreciate any input on this plan or any alternate plan that does not put us in danger given our draft!

Thanks!

Once in the Exumas... it will be a little dicey anchoring in some of the well traveled places with 7.5 ft.... You'll learn to read the water though. I did it with 6-5" ft. You'll need to exit early rather than header further south when jumping to Georgetown. The entrance to the harbor at Georgetown (Victoria harbor?) use your GPS to zig zg in. Get a good guide and you will know where you can and cant go. Shold be fun!
