26' Express Cruiser

I am leaning toward a used 2008 - 2010 boat of this size to use on the east coast of Florida. I do not have a particular brand picked out. This will be my 1st boat of this type.

I want to use this type of boat in the ocean. Good idea or bad idea? Why?

Re: 26' Express Cruiser

Ocean near shore (20-25nm) probably not a problem. Fishing I assume.

If you want to make a run to the Bahamas from Miami then you probably want to take a lot of extra fuel (figure 1-1.5nm/gal at planing speeds (17-20kt) and time the weather VERY carefully.
Stow as much as possible as low as possible in the boat for this kind of adventure.
Make sure it has a head with holding tank for the Bahamas. Porta-Potti is OK if staying in the US.

Re: 26' Express Cruiser

In this size boat it will have a holding tank that must be pumped out. I have seen marinas with pump out facilies.

Again...I am leaning toward a small express cruiser but a used Ranger Tug trawler is still not out of the question.

Yes...I would do some fishing but the main focus would be recreation with a cabin that my wife and I could spend a few nights on if the weather is good.

I like the idea of a boat with a trailer so I can get it out of the water when not in use.

Re: 26' Express Cruiser

Currently the Regal 26 express cruiser doesn't seem to have a head.

http://www.regalboats.com/model/26-express/

The website isn't very good but no legion at all of the head makes me think they're glossing something about it over.

Re: 26' Express Cruiser

The Regal 26 Windows Express Cruiser has a small head to the port side as you enter down the steps into the cabin. The holding tank is 18 gallon.

There are other boats like the Four Winns 26 that I will check out.

After that web site leaves a lot to be desired.
