Would be about 40-50gph to get into 20s. So maybe they mean mpg in which case they are only lying by 1/2

My "African Queen" Volvo MD11c 2-banger uses about 1/2 gph.
I think half of that is used just shaking the engine.

Geez, I hope not. That's about what I use if I run at over 5.5 knots. If he can get that at 20 knots I am going to be very envious.
