1982 Viking 44' Motor Yacht

I just purchased a 1982 Viking 44' Motor Yacht, does anyone know of a site or reading material that would explain the mechanical workings of this yacht. An owners manual so to speak,,, I have not been able to find anything

Things like that are unlikely to exist. Boats don't really come with what you might consider an proper owner's manual. Why? I am not exactly sure. I suspect that lot's of them were optioned such a variety of different ways that no one manual would cover everything. Even so, how much has been changes since 1982? Tons, I suspect. You just have to learn it as you go. Explore. Get dirty. pull off panels and see where the wires and hoses go. Ask marina neighbors. Ask on forums. Trust me... You WILL figure it all out soon enough.

What, specifically, do you need to know?

I don't know much about your boat, but if the manufacturer is still in business, they may have wiring and plumbing diagrams.
Break the systems into individual systems and look for manuals that way.
Most boats like yours (I have seen) have Detroit 671TI engines. There's a lot of info on the web on Detroits. I have 671s, but a different model. Ebay is a good place to look for manuals. Other Viking owners may have manuals, diagrams you could have copied.
When I buy a new-to-me boat, I trace all the plumbing and main wiring. In an emergency, it's nice to know what to shut off and where to do it.
If you do have Detroits and have questions, I've used them a long time and do my own overhauls. My favorite diesel and very reliable.
