Re: Who Thinks the Earth is Flat?
It's only a decade or two since the Vatican removed Galileo's works from the prescribed list?

Very good point. I have a hard time seeing how believing the earth is flat is less logical than praying to a higher power to save you.
P.s. For the record the earth is round, mars though is another story - looks flat to me

Re: Who Thinks the Earth is Flat?
If it's flat, why is it cold in the middle and at the edge?
And why isn't daytime the same everywhere?

Can't disagree with you, I'm sure there are Dr.'s who think the earth is 6000 years old but not very many, you can count on that. Every study ive looked at suggests that the more worldly and educated the more skeptical people are but as you say, it doesn't work for everyone.

Re: Who Thinks the Earth is Flat?
Well of course it's flat. If it was round, people on the bottom would fall off. I've even been to the edge a few times myself. Next you're going to tell me man has walked on the moon!!!!!!

Re: Who Thinks the Earth is Flat?
So in 12 hours this has generated 3 pages on CF and this with many of the members knowing its round because they have been around it or they going to get a round TUIT. They are available here if you haven't got one: TUIT
Of course this wouldn't generate any publicity in the UK for Freddies radio show would it? or a conference that may be paid for his ticket to attend?
Now if the Earth is flat I want my money back because someone has drawn lines on my charts that meet at the top in error and at 50.N that's a big error.

Re: Who Thinks the Earth is Flat?
It's natural for people to believe all sorts of things without direct evidence. I believe the ocean is X deep at X spot because someone else took a sounding (or says they did) and said the depth was there. I can't prove it to anyone without going out to X spot with a sounder and finding out. And if a doubter isn't there to observe for himself, he has every right to think I might have lied, however convinced of it I may be.
I can tell people why I personally believe the earth is round, but I haven't taken pictures from space or been down an Egyptian well like that Greek chap. In fact, I'm taking a lot of people's word for a lot of things, and rejecting the things I don't wish to believe, and accepting the ones I do.
Most people who believe in evolution haven't seen or handled the fossils or physically visited the geological sites being cited as proof of it: they're believing in it because they were convinced to by people whose opinion they believe, and who wrote these things down.
Likewise, those who believe in a 6,000 year-old earth were not there at the beginning: they're believing what was written down by others. No one has direct, personal evidence for creation any more than anyone has direct, personal evidence for a long-ago Big Bang. Everyone is choosing to believe what seems most plausible to him/her at the moment.
Another example: the Global Warming establishment is claiming that there's more carbon dioxide in the air now that ever before. [I]But they've only been measuring carbon levels for a brief span of time [I] No one took measurements even 100 years ago, so if we're to believe the Establishment's claim, we have to accept on faith the things they say, such as: we can tell by ice sampling how much carbon was in the air 10,000 years ago, and every X amount of years since. I have no way to confirm or dispute that--I have to either believe it, having faith in Science, which from the beginning of recorded history have been getting things wrong and adjusting their "facts," or I can scoff.
To me, the Flat Earthers are as plausible as the Global Warmers. Who are as plausible as the Evolutionists. You just have to choose whom you believe, based on...what you choose to believe.

Because the sun doesn't shine as strong on the edges (N & S pole) as it does on the middle (equator)

Because the sun isn't shinning on the the whole earth at once, it's beam rotates in a circle roughly over the equator every 24 hours. Just like if you move a torch beam around your boat etc.
Have you noticed how small the sun is; bright but small just like tightly focussed Maglite.

OK. I'll concede the earth is round but flat, not spherical.

I said "There's your next President" when Trump announced he was running for office. Friends and family laughed and said I was crazy.
