Re: This Is What Happens When You Don't Pay Your Fees . . .
In 1965 I worked in a yard here, where we serviced 11 of the fleet of 15 wooden International One Designs.
One of them, WARBABYIII, had been sentenced to a fiery death due to too many broken frames from hard racing.
We had removed the keel and all hardware for the cremation.
We had a bad storm that weekend, and another one of our charges, GEM, had her port side stove in.
The owners agreed, and we took the port side planking off of WARBABY, and replanked GEM, which AFAIK, is still sailing here.
The IODs we so perfectly similar that I don't recall more than one or two plane strokes to refit the planking.
Learned foredeck on IODs-- beautiful boats.

The TRIX no longer exists! See this thread >> http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tml#post754121
What I thought was going to be a fairly simple project (sealing hull/deck joint) last Sept. turned out to be a major ordeal. Of course, I had to throw in some custom parts/work, like the radar arch and reinforced cap over the joint.
But gett'n real close, one more coat of paint and a few more pieces to put back and it'll be re-commissioned. Should be out there for the Labor Day weekend.

Everything goes to the bone yard sooner or later.
I'll bet my 70 teak ketch makes it to a 100 if I dont pile her up on a reef somewhere!

More power to ya! Love them old woodies as long as they've been taken care of. But that means you'll have to live another 30 years.

Del, you really did it. Now to get her out and see how she works for that transpac. I will be watching for you. Which direction are you headed?

I usually stop over in Ludlow before heading North. But I kind of like hanging around Stuart Is. and up towards Pender Harbour. Although, I may try doing the East side of Vancouver Is. this time if I have time (Weather wise).

Del, I saw you in Ludlow over on the A dock. I had a wet edge going and didn't get over there in time before you left. I hope you are having a successful shake down cruise. I will be home most of September...if you stop in on your way home. Ugly Duckling looked great, almost exotic.

Re: This Is What Happens When You Don't Pay Your Fees . . .
Sorry! Wasn't me. I'm still on the hard but do plan to launch on Sept 1 or 2. Then a week or so after I'm heading North.

Re: This Is What Happens When You Don't Pay Your Fees . . .
Hard to believe but I saw a bright yellow hull with a similar radar bridge. Glad I didn't embarrass myself by stacking cold beers in the cockpit... Hope you pass through Ludlow on the way north. I will be watching. Do you have the seal/badge mounted yet?
David they will be shocked when they realize you have never paid. You may have resort to bribery to redeem yourself.

Re: This Is What Happens When You Don't Pay Your Fees . . .
That reminds me this 1976 Ingrid 38' will be going up for sale soon. It has a fairly unused volvo diesel. Been sitting for 18 years. The wooden spars are rotten but is all there.
The pictures make it look better then it really is. But it is savable, just lots of elbow grease and new spars. Lots of wood on deck but it's dry inside.
