Re: things I do & think that are wrong

Hey Don - I reckon you and I are about 95% compatible. It's that 5% that creates the flame wars around here - LOL.

I am a racer - I have zero problemo with you crossing the fleet as long as you follow the regs. It is a courtesy, perhaps, to avoid the first 6-8 boats. They are the only ones with a chance anyway. Everyone else gets pissed at you because they are losing due to their own incompetence - LOL...

Good onya Don. We go with what we are personally comfortable with.
Hey, if we all agreed it would be dead boring.
Being polite goes a long way. (Something I am not always good at.)

True, but I've only put about 400 hours on the engine in 12 years.
Just got back from a month's Canada vacation on the boat and only burned 4 gallons of diesel. Probably almost half of that went thru the furnace at night.

What's an impeller?

The one I pictured had done less than 150 hours. Impellers don't like sitting around bunched up in the one position. They dry out and loose some prime if the engine is not run. If you run your engine infrequently the impeller still needs changing.
This is why manufacturers specify time and hour limits.

Changing an impeller is easy. If you dont change it and it looses a blade it's a lot of work dismantling the cooling system to get the blade out. If the impeller looses a few blades it's more work rebuilding the engine.

Rant over. It's your engine.

Boat: So many boats to choose from. Would prefer something that is not an AWB, and that is beachable...

Well, I agree with this mostly except for:

Just a thought: I wonder if people living in smart houses shouldn't have to look at shacks or other such poor dwellings??
Hmmm.

Don, your only problem is an exaggerated feeling of insecurity Why should you care what people think? Cruise the way you want and don't worry about it. And anyway, you cruise more or less like 90% of people out there, so there's not even anything for the great majority of people to look askance at.

WTF!

I got some (note - some, not a couple since there seemed to be a need ) They came in a completely different package. They were new.

It turns out that the others had been on the shelf for years and years. I confirmed this by talking to someone who "knew" when the packaging had changed.

GO DON!!

Re: things I do & think that are wrong

Replaced my outboard impeller for the first time at 12 years.

I've got to say....carry a second anchor Don. I've lost several, and have 5 in my garage that I have found diving in the lake. Always have two, even on my little boats.

Re: things I do & think that are wrong

Well don, I guess it just goes to show that you obviously aren't susceptible to logic. I mean all the old farts (sorry salts) that regularly rant and rave here know a hell of a lot more than you or I.

I disagree with you on one point - Beer is great during the day - but at happy hour a G/T or margarita is the only thing that will do. They both require ice and therefore they are a great argument for buying a bigger boat with more batteries, and an ice machine.

Now if I just to get a pizza delivered..................
