I too am interested in this. It sounds wonderful. I am not sure I believe that such a state exists, but if it does, I will strive to find it.

The prior boat was twenty miles away by back roads. I had a motorcycle until this Spring. Typical non-sailing warm day: "Damn, I forgot that I have this little project at the boat. You don't mind, do you?" (She didn't because I was now out of her hair.) Toss my tools onto the back of the bike and head out. It's shocking, but fully half the time taking the same route, I'd get lost. I'd find myself riding all over creation before I finally found the boat. By the time I got aboard, I'd be so tired I needed to take a nap or, maybe, have a cigar and a short glass of single malt to get my energy back. Wouldn't you know it. By that time, I'd likely forgotten what the project was so I'd just putter until it was time to ride home. A wasted day? Not hardly.

Sleeping with gentle rocking and wavelets gently tickling he hull. Then coffee in the cockpit with warm sunshine. Are we lucky or what?

Don't have to do that, I left the house last Monday, went out for a ride and I'll never go back. Tonight I'm in Ottawa, Illinois, one more night on the road. Then I play on the boat until the survey. Close before the 6th of December, move in that day.

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat
I can think of many..... the one that comes to mind right now is being out on the lake at night. When it's dead calm, with just enough moonlight to see that you have a clear path. Give her half-throttle and Sunset Chaser makes you feel like you're flying. Suddenly we're in a sheltered bay, cut the engine, dip fingers in the water (surprisingly warm), hop in for a swim.... the sky just packed with stars, a loon calls from a few boat-lengths away....

Getting up in the middle of the night when anchored, going on deck naked and peeing off the stern.

Laying up at the bow with arms on each side while dolphin ride our bow waves. They look up to see me and my waving hands (& probably wonder why I am making that fake dolphin echolocation noise). And getting spray on my face as they blow - not as smelly as I would expect! No matter how many times I do this, it's still magic.
