Re: Run over by a fishing boat!!!

How's the northerly swell there (Simpson Bay)? I moved out of Marigot last week cause of the swell. Would love cleaner water, thought north end one Le Lagoon is clear is has a lot of debris (grass sea-weed leaves etc.)

I was there for the swells, we moved from our mooring in Anguilla as there was nowhere safe to hide. We went straight onto our mooring in the lagoon, didn't hang around Marigot because we knew it was going to get ugly. When we dinghied to Marigot we were very glad we got out of there. We're back in Anguilla now, it's so calm, no wind.

Agree 100%, if you were not there you have no clue!
It is like some policeman being told "you shouldnt have done so and so" by some committee or Judge .or worse still some do-gooder.

Flat and lovely, even last week with the northerly swells.

Pretty clear. I snorkeled Pelican Rocks 2 days ago and it's fairly clear, not perfect.

Tuck in between the beach and the rocks. Plenty of space.

Re: Run Over by a Fishing Boat!

I hop[e you also reported it to the authorities. You where not even on the 'high seas' but in territorial waters. Presumably in harbour/anchorage as you where in the dink. High speed planing in such an area a dusk is in my view reckless driving. In harbour you are covered by French law and are driving a boat so as to curse a collision and failure to stop at the scene of an accident are offenses I think. You saw he saw you afterwards but still continued. You can also claim damages both for the dink and your injury. The coastguard probably saw him on the harbour AIS so may have a record of his ID. People only get away with this attitude because we let them think the law can't tough them in a boat, about time we proved them wrong!

Glad you had no worse

Re: Run Over by a Fishing Boat!

If the AIS position is accurate, your boat is parked right in the Anguilla ferry path. That's where all fast charter boats pass on their way to the airport. If anyone is parking in the lagoon, avoid that route.

Re: Run Over by a Fishing Boat!

I wonder why you called it a fishing boat? Could it have just been a sport boat, or a drug smuggling boat?

ok, ok there are some questions unanswered ...
