Don't ya know Hannah, Mark has one of those disposable boats.

Count me among those hoping it works out for you guys Mark. Sounds to me like you've got your head on straight -- with the possible exception of all that "maturity" you've been showing. Relationships occassionally call for more "damn the torepedos" a bit less "prudent seamanship" . . .. And anyway, Beneteaus are a dime a dozen.

Chin up Mark!!! The toughest part of a breakup besides financial, is the first day. The next few weeks are usually spent screening the many who will be at your doorstep.

I am soooooo excited....

I was just wondering, a few days before this thread started, whether there were any famous people hiding behind pseudonyms on this site.

And I just found out there is one..... NOEL EDMUNDS is a member of CF!!!!! Look, look......!!!! Cruisers & Sailing Forums - View Profile: moonrsn

Ooh, I wonder if he'll be my friend!!!

Oh bugger, what a shame - on closer investigation this is a guy called Noel Edwards, who looks just like Noel Edmunds - and it would have been well cool to know Noel Edmunds. Anyone got his phone number anyway???

Are you suggesting that Mark should be looking for 16 YO solo female sailors?

By no means. I think 16 YO solos should find each other and leave the old men for the rest of us.

That paints several interesting pictures in my twisted imagination...

Mark and Nic so sorry to hear about this. I just can't imagine not wanting to cruise though.

Sucks to hear this. But its good to hear you didn't get p****whipped into giving up your dream and decided to continue on alone. You have your heath, a nice boat and the capability to continue cruising which is more than what a lot of people have. So life is still good depending on how you choose to look at it.

Since you brought it up I had to "Google Earth" it too - you are right, it looks like a great place to be !

So what's the story, there has to be one ? Probably should be answered in a separate thread to keep from hijacking Mark's any more.

.
Horrible phrase and particularly inappropriate in the circumstances.

So if you work the wenches you can still work the winches?
No wenches, no winches. Which wench? Which winch?
Whew!

As you head to Gibraltar, you will see weird currents in the water. In that area of the Med, I saw currents welling up that reminded me of the strange currents in the shallow water around Fiji. In the distance of 100 meters I could see water flowing first in one direction, and then in another. I wondered what was going on in the deep water. It must have been disturbed currents coming through the Straits of Gibraltar. There's lots going on in that area, and if you are singlehanding you might consider making a series of shorter hops if that is possible. I think singlehanding out in the Atlantic is easier and safer. Less current, less shipping, and weather is more stable.
