Navigation skills matter.

Police seize $1 billion worth of drugs after yacht runs aground on WA reef

I wonder which charts they were using. Paper or electronic?

Maybe they had been sampling the cargo...

Any decent sample and they should have flown over the reef.

Re: Navigation skills matter.

I don’t think there is a good chart of the Pelsaert Group, there is of the other two groups. At least that was true a few years ago. Therefore the electronic chart is very poor for this group, not what most people are used to anyway. It’s also not a great place to try and hide anything and good luck digging!

If they had sampled the product I dare say the water depths and coral bombies would have been more vivid.

Re: Navigation skills matter.

Quite possible the Abrolhos was the intended destination but without the grounding. This would be a reasonable location to ferry the cargo to the mainland by other smaller vessels - perhaps fishing boats.

Just an opinion!
