They HAVE to... the thread has been hijacked into an "anchoring/weapons" thread now. lol Or maybe anchoring w/ weapons.
Either way, it's going HOT, I can feel it! lol

Re: Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about cruising...
Love sailing, hate having to motor in with the dread of pulling her out of the water and heading home. But, it is with a good hate feeling because you're tired and have had a great day of sailing.
Tried sailing a couple weeks ago, winds 20+ with gusts hitting 35+, waves 3'-5'. Was fun but anxious going (1 hour drive with trailer) get there and wait about 10 minutes making sure our decision was "no". Not gonna chance it here, with a 16' Catalina. A big omen was that there were two towboats on the ramp sitting there waiting for a call. LOL, the drive home was relaxing, even though we didn't go sailing I just knew we would have had a rough time of it.

the freedom
filling in damm crew lists custom forms and paying fees for this that and the other and really getting nothing for what you pay

You know what they say - freedom isn't free.

Re: Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about cruising...
I love the peace, the freedom, the wind and the challange.
I hate working to pay for peace, having to give up freedom for greater security and the loss of the challenge in societies drive for greater safety.
But put all that to one side, I love the wind in my hair, the salt splash of the seas and the sun on my skin. Sailing is the best.

Re: Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about cruising...
It's not where you're going that's important, it's the journey....
I love just being at sea, and the sound of the water along the hull and the wind in the sails...
I hate having to wait all week long to be there (retirement in almost a year!!)
and I hate much more all the invoices I receive ... for this month only thousands of $ gone in a new set of batteries, new water heater and new fridge!!
I already put more money in the maintenance and fitting than in the boat itself
BUT:
"I love just being at sea, and the sound of the water along the hull and the wind in the sails..."
and so far the Admiral is enjoying it also (she is happy with a working fridge and a new water heater.. the rest is considered as unnecessary expenses, boy toys...)

Re: Name one thing you love and one thing you hate about cruising...
I love the way the boat surges when the wind picks up. It makes it feel like you're aboard an animal rather than on a machine, and after two years of sailing, I still love that feeling.
I hate my small galley and the fact that I have to reach over the stove burners to get into the cupboard or the icebox.

Re: Name One Thing You Love and One Thing You Hate About Cruising
1/2 hour before sunrise, slight fog, dead calm, at anchor, hot cup of coffee, heaven.
Midnight, Rain, 35°f, 1 mile off shoals, 10' seas, 40knt wind, hell.
