That's not very far .
I can't imagine a cruiser that does not travel with some manner of folding cart. That is how I carried fuel when cruising areas with no fuel docks. Often several trips with two cans in the cart.
I get the impression many responders have never tried a shaker siphon, including those that suggest various pump and primer bulb systems. A shaker is much simpler and much faster than the primer bulb system.
For smaller boats, SureCan is the bomb.

Could be half-a-mile or more of loose sand.

Jerry cans are unusable
Ditto. With the rattle hose you dont mess with either spouts, push buttons, or vents. Plus u can do two tanks at once. Or more, solo.

Re: Jerry cans are unusable
I had about 3 of the electrical pumps but neither of them lasted more than about 12 months. Hopeless, really cheap construction (from you know where....). They could transfer 20 liters (5 galls) in about 2 mins. The shaker/jiggler which i now have has worked perfectly and will transfer the same volume in 2-3 mins. Difference in the timing depends how far down you push the exit tube since this increases the suction out of the container. I wasted money on those electrical gadgets which all ended up in the (metal+plastic) garbage.

Re: Jerry cans are unusable
GasTapper makes a siphon hose that has a jiggler on one end, a detachable squeeze bulb for the other, a clip to attach the hose to the bucket/jerry can, a clip that can shutoff flow, and springs that can be positioned to keep the hose from kinking.
Seems like a decent package.

You keep repeating that, what is your agenda? Also, why don’t you know how many you bought that only lasted 12 months? I find your repeated posts suspicious, because it really sounds like political anti China stance to me.
Mine is now 2.5 years old, has pumped a lot of gasoline for the outboard and keeps going strong. For batteries I use Eneloop rechargeable and I did not have to recharge them yet!
Normally when battery operated gadgets die, it is because of leaking batteries, which is the reason we use Eneloop for everything.

Re: Jerry cans are unusable
By the way, I have the “jiggler” as well, I try every option. It’s just a checkvalve to work the fuel up to the highest point in the hose, after which it just becomes a siphon. It works, but not as well and not as quick as the battery operated version.

Re: Jerry cans are unusable
Jedi (#98) No need to try and read some prejudice you suppose i might have had. i have got no special agenda. Just my own experience. The wretched electrical ones either fell apart or just stopped working due bad connections. I got fed up with them so reverted to the jiggler.
I timed my jiggler last week and was surprised that if you stuff the exit tube down as far as poss down the filling point it shortens the time from 3 mins to 2 mins for 20 litres (5 galls). Yes, it is very logical because the exit point from the jiggler is then so much lower and creates better suction out of the container.

Re: Jerry cans are unusable
not having extra dough for jigglers and other fancy stuff, i put the hose into the jug and make a seal with my hands and blow into jug and my fuel comes out nicely. i got tired of the leaky jugs blowing fuel into my face and everywhere as we sail and sit at anchor so i put bags over the spouts and remove them for use of jugs. works well. no lifting no tipping no pouring.. and the big chunks stay in bottom of jug to be washed out later.

Re: Jerry cans are unusable
I used a simple battery powered transfer pump with great success. I'm sure this has already been talked about in this thread but the thread is too long and wordy to both with reading though.

Back when I was working in a chemical plant and chartering boats, a pipe on the pipe bridge outside my office broke spilling a lot of diesel oil into the street. Everyone in the office building complained about the stink but me. I thought it smelled like vacation. It brought back pleasant memories.
