Re: How do you deal with a bad captain?

Hard to imagine a two month SAIL from Florida to SC, must have spent most of the time tied up. Having read only page 1 and 2 I'm wondering why you didn't just move on after one or two weeks? If he was that bad you would have known in one week, two max. Surprised the captain let it go on two months.

Some of those Tiki bars along the coast/ICW are real hard to get past..

If its in a channel you move out of his way he mostly restricted draft if its at sea the overtaking vessel makes room while overtaking look up the col regs.just a thought if you are ever in that situatio. Again go 90 degrees if you can to show the ship your intention

Re: How do you deal with a bad captain?

In 15 deliveries ive only got off once because the captain was mad as a hatter .the others were brill sailing in convoy one time another bost started leaking from the prop shaft. So we stood by ad escort two days later in the pub hes crew left him because he wad only feeding them pot noodles. I dont mind working for nothing but i expect to be fed wellcrossing the atlantic with a mate 4 hrs on 4 hrs off we were putting away 5000 calories and we still lost three stone

Re: How do you deal with a bad captain?

I am not sure if your concerns were communicated to the captain as i think it would be the most productive route. Worth a try for next time maybe?

Who knows?
