In Australia, it's 0.05% as far as a reading.

AND

You can't be found operating or in charge of a vessel 'under the influence'.
can you be "under the influence" when you're "down under"? maybe that's why the aussie cops can't "find" anyone - they're upside down, which means the blood rushes to their heads and they get dizzy

or am I really confused?

In the Netherlands it's 0,5 promille.

I'm not really a drinker, and only drink when tucked away in my slip.
Every once in a while, I'll come home drunk -- which means I've had more then half a bottle of wine over several hours.

Usually, I only have one or two glasses, if I drink - that's plenty for me.

In Ontario, Canada the limit is 80 milligrams and you can lose your car drivers licence for operating a vessel under the influence.

I ask my doctor if I'd live longer if I gave up drinking, gambling, and chasing women.

He said, "No. But it'll sure seem like it."

Its well known and accepted by the Medical Establishment that regular Weight Lifting exercises, Brain exercises and Jogging prolongs life expectancy and reduces the chance of senile dementia.

In Canada, any level of impairment can be a crime.

Quote:
253 (1) Every one commits an offence who operates a motor vehicle or vessel or operates or assists in the operation of an aircraft or of railway equipment or has the care or control of a motor vehicle, vessel, aircraft or railway equipment, whether it is in motion or not,

(a) while the person’s ability to operate the vehicle, vessel, aircraft or railway equipment is impaired by alcohol or a drug; or

(b) having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in the person’s blood exceeds eighty milligrams of alcohol in one hundred millilitres of blood.

Marginal note:For greater certainty

(2) For greater certainty, the reference to impairment by alcohol or a drug in paragraph (1)(a) includes impairment by a combination of alcohol and a drug.

Re: Ever give up Booze?

Reminds me of the Willie Nelson song "I Gotta Get Drunk"

I gotta get drunk and I sure do dread it
Cause I know just what I'm gonna do
Gonna spend my money calling everybody honey
And wind up singing the blues.

There's a lot of doctors that tell me
I'd better start slowing it down
But there's more old drunks than there is old doctors
So I guess I'd better have another round.

PS I don't drink, I just love the song.

It's not that simple. Moderate consumption of alcohol has positive health effects. And I wouldn't know how to survive (and even have anything remotely approaching fun) at a party without some booze.

But then I come from a completely different culture with regards to alcohol than the the US. I remember when applying to participate in an exchange student program I had to fill out an (American English) form asking if I drank alcoholic liquor. I answered "no", because as far as I know, I didn't. Beer and wine wasn't liquor. That term was reserved (in our language) for distilled stuff, and I didn't touch that until I was in my thirties.

But wine and beer? No problem. The last time I ever drank coca cola in my life was when I was 13. Someday in that year my dad told me that I was now to old for soft drinks (which are for children) I could have a beer in stead. Took me some getting used to the taste, but you know how one is as a young teenager. You don't want to disappoint your dad.

Soft drinks are for kids. Comparing the general health of the population between say, France and the US I would say that sugar is a bigger health problem than alcohol...

Re: Ever give up Booze?

Last year, 2015 I quit drinking twice..

Once for two weeks, celebrated by buying a racing dingy and celebrated that by starting drinking again.

Second time was last summer I quit for 3 days cuz doctor wanted to do blood work..

Worst 17days of 2015...

I like the slogan team guys learned it at BUD/S "winners never quit, quitters never win"
