Anyway, gonna have to supercharge that LHC and bang about some more atoms. Good times. Unless of course they destroy the universe doing it.

Yes, multiverse = membranes. I was glad they found the higgs.
Going to need a few more Tvolts, to worry about destroying the planet, not really going to happen (fingers crossed ). Besides quantum black holes are fuzzy....

As you come to the edge you enter another dimension that lets you proceed to the other side as if the world was round. Of course you could always travel through the hollow earth and avoid all this stuff about falling off the edge.
Kind of like measuring how big a pond is. The finer the measurements, the larger the pond. In theory infinitely large. In fact, we can not know anything's precise size. In quantum physics, you got the problem that even the measuring sticks change size when you use them.

I'd assume that pretty much anyone who'd spent much time under the open sky at night has seen several.
The LEO satellites are pretty obvious, if you're looking.

Inconclusive. How can you be sure those aren't alien ufos?
I used to see small bright dots crossing our skies during the night when I was a kid but after one time seeing 4 dots (aligned in rectangular shape) crossing, I stopped believing in satellites.
Those are alien spacecrafts without doubt investigating our planet's odd flat shape. Why else would they come here?

Re: Dont tell anyone, but I think the earth is flat.
Much larger groups believe even weirder things, but that would get us into politics and religion. As near as I can tell, reason is an evolutionary latecomer to which society and the human mind has not well adapted.
Of course, we pour money into boats when it would be loads easier and cheaper to drive or fly.

But would it be so fun?
Just yesterday my sister in law told me it was cheaper to get the fare to a close by island than going with our own boat... Sure it is. But I rather go on my own boat. It's much more fun.

I try to at least recognize my irrationality, though I'm sure I have manifold blind spots, some of them places I'd rather not look.
The rational side of boating is the mental health benefit... except when something breaks deep in the bowels of an unreachable space.

Those are just giant fireflies running around up there. Besides everyone knows the earth is a giant conveyor belt. Which is why if you sail offshore, the shore disappears because its now being churned under by the conveyor belt.
The best brains in astro physics are now wondering if the whole thing is nothing but a hologram. After all, if you took out all the empty space from the empire state building that exists between the various constituents of an atom you would be left with a very heavy spec of dust smaller than a grain of rice.
The universe is mostly nothing, and a lot of it. Higgs just allows space to get organized into weird objects like humans and sailboats.

Re: Dont tell anyone, but I think the earth is flat.
Have you ever thought about the space between double glazing?
Or thought about the fact that a Giraffes neck is so long that by the time a mouthful of coffee had passed from top to bottom, the coffee would be cold as it entered its stomach...
No.. you havent have you...
Its not all about you you know!!

But isn't it not the space between double glazing but the pressure betwixt?
