Re: Dating sites for sailors looking for companionship and love
What's stimulating when it's young and trim?
What will demand all your time?
What will demand all your money?
What requires constant maintenance?
What consumes more fuel then it needs?
What likes to travel, but needs to stop constantly?
What keeps your honey-do list full?
What has a big bottom?
What has a waterline that increases with time?
What loses its glamour when it gets old?
Yeah! Boats can be a pain! Boats may grown a bit, but at least boats don't talk!
Imagine having two relationships!

Aww, come on now, Zee, that's an awfully wide brush you are wielding there. Surely somewhere there is a man not full of ****, whatever that may be!
I know that I'm full of ****, but there are some 3.5 billion others out there...

there is a soulmate site in cf but it is not a date site nor a crew site--there is one of those.
as for boats talking, a good sailor KNOWS his/her boat speaks . boat tells you what is wrong--a good sailor pays attention.
those groans are boat speaking.. there are other ways the boat speaks to you as well. yes boat is same as spouse or mistress. .
jim--i ceased looking when i saw what the availability is out here in real time..ha h ah ah ah ah ah a
drunks, druggies, and schizophrenics. h ah ah ah ah a the rest are married.
or too young.
or markj. he has his own classification h aha ha ha still too young.

Re: Dating sites for sailors looking for companionship and love
I've been married since 82, so I can't speak from experience, but I have several friends that aren't and many like Zee have given up. Seems their opinion is the only ones that are worth having are either Gay, or Married.
I think they are looking in the wrong places, I guess, not all that are worth having can be Gay or Married, can't be.

you have not met the pool of schizophrenia and drunks and methheads who sit in boats claiming to be human..ha ha ha ha h a
there used to be only gay and married, however, in the late 80s, methamphetamine became popular among some boat working clowns and dropped the bar quite successfully for many.
it seems families with schizophrenia in the genes send their affected family members into boating. to florida. keys.
. registered sex offenders and pedophiles also keep to boats as they are able to reside in them and not be within so many yards of a school.
there is a lot more to it than merely married or gay anymore..it is what is the limit at which you cut the field--hahahaha
i worked with way too many psychiatrically challeneged when i was at work--it isnot my job to be someones full time psych nurse at the same time i am repairing my home. i donot need the extra balderdash prsented in trying to maintain my current life status--alive--with them in my boat. it is too small for that. btdt-it didnot and never will work. keep your own psychiatric ills to your self.
remember i have been on board since 1990, and in more than one or two locales...
as to the original posters request to make a dating site in cf-- we have single sailors seeking soulmates, which is exactly what it is named, which has been around n ow for 8?? years.
ssssm is not a casual dating site--that is pof, match dot com and the rest.. it is also not a crew listing-- there is one of those already.
if you cruise your user cp there are social groups. in there you may find what you say you seek

I think married people belittle many single people.
Its not the places. It's the fool internet, TV and legal system & expectations that have ruined it.
I won't settle for second best.
Nor will I risk losing the money that lets me freely travel for the rest of my life.
Some gay people are not gay 'genetically' but prefer it as there is less hassle with a same sex relationship than with the horrendous angst of the supposed dating 'scene'.
This forum is despicable in the way it treats single people.
Its despicable in the way it treats most people who advertise for crew positions.
I have complained about it numerous times. Each time to be denigrated by Moderators.
If forums like this that deal with people have no idea, married people have no idea, the law has no idea, and TV &media are in dream land, how do you expect single people not to feel like Zee has expressed and I feel?

Re: Dating sites for sailors looking for companionship and love
Mark, that is an unusual post.
I hope you do not think I was belittling anyone?
What I was saying was if there are many "normal" Women who say the only single Men that are available are undesirable, and many Men saying the same about Women, well that doesn't add up.
Possibly people are expecting too much?
Take me for instance so I don't belittle anyone else other than myself, but if I were single, it's likely that the kind of Women I would be attracted to, would not be attracted to me.
I'd be chasing Women out of my league so to speak, I'm sure.

I don't feel as strongly as you do about this, but it IS annoying everytime I or anyone else ask a question about single-handing there is a bunch of 'why don't you find a first mate?!' type responses
