Canary sail school experience

Hi everybody,
I am interested in doing RYA Yachtmaster course and already in contact with guys at Canary sail school.

Anyone that has previous experience with them would you be kind to share it?

Best Regards,

Try UK specific forums as I know vast majority of their clients are UK sailors.

Re: Canary sail school experience

Based in La Gomera? If so I got to know them quite well socially a few years back, didn't actually do any courses but they seemed very professional and a nice bunch as well.
Believe the ownership has changed since then but haven't seen any bad reports.

Great location, La Gomera is lovely and great sailing.

Good luck!

Re: Canary sail school experience

Hi Mzungugari,
My wife and I did our dayskipper years ago with Canary Sail (La Gomera and San Miguel Tenerife). And 3 years ago, I returned to do my Yachtmaster offshore with them. I have very good memories on both these weeks with them.
Since two years I have my boat on the Canaries, and still meet these people and their clients when I am there. So I am confident to recommend them.
Do enjoy it.

No experience with them but I know an instructor headed there to teach and he is top notch! Michael Brooks. Seek him out

Re: Canary sail school experience

Go to Club Yachting | Sailing, Motor Cruising & Power boats all year round in the warm & sunny Canary Islands
I went there Jan. 2015
Took a heavy weather training course there.
Extremely good place. Professional.
I am from Germany and I will go there again to get the "RYA Yardmaster offshore license even though I got one of the highest German licenses.
I am not married to them. It is my honest opinion. They are trustworthy and good people.
Saludos
Ingo

In case he is still there, try to get into Richard's group. That guy is absolutely great if you want to learn a lot. He is from the Netherlands and work there as a teacher.

Re: Canary sail school experience

I did a few weeks of sailing with Jim, the owner. Fantastic experience. The Wind Acceleration Zone between the islands is a blast. You will get some good experience out there. La Gomera is absolutely beautiful. I would happily return.

I was doing RYA Coastal Skipper.

Absolutely recommended!
