Given the Falklands war was in 1982, that would make the reporter younger than 26 or have a really bad case on amnesia.

Given the fact the pirates opened fire on a sailing Naval vessel, and only two of the pirates were kiled shows unbelievable restraint from the Royal Navy.

Being an American saying this, I profess that justice would have been better served by sending the private vessel, and her crew to the bottom of the ocean. That could have been done in short order.
