Vancouver BC institutes Boat Bait program

Vancouver has a very active "bait" program, the car bait program has nabbed lots of bad guys. Cars are put out on the streets of the make popular to rip off and a signal goes out when the motor is started. The doors are locked and the car tracked with GPS. Once the car is in a favourable position, the car motor is shut off and the collar is made.

Well Vancouver police have announced a boat bait program to catch the bad guys when a boat is stolen. Fortunately for me, it is primarily power boats that are stolen and in the smaller range, under 25 feet. So they put out a popular boat in the most popular length stolen and wait for the signal to notify them the boat is motor is on, once that occurs the GPS kicks in and the position of the boat is noted, and the collar made.

The car bait program has significantly reduced stolen vehicles in greater Vancouver and I suspect the boat bait program will be equally successful.
