Unhappy Still need info about our boat in San Carlos

Hello,

We have not been able to get any information about our boat in San Carlos. I am making a direct appeal for anyone who might have more info.

Gitana is located in section DH (I am not sure of the space number) at Marina Seca San in San Carlos.
Do you know of anyone who might have information or photos of the yard?
Do you have any contacts in San Carlos who might be able to help?

Please PM me.

Thank you!

Re: Still need info about our boat in San Carlos

it could be a bit of time before they get to your boat with lack of reliability of communications expected over the next month, and with the need for the manager to overlook and see each boat then send email.
please breathe and relax and hope for the very best. i wish i were there, but glad i am not, because if i were there i would check on your boat for you and shoot pix. after patricia we had a month of unreliable mayhem communicationswise.

Sea Dreaming,

Only people who are not there are seeing your plea. I hope you get some news soon. Sailor 694--or whatever the number is--the chap from s/v Shameless is there on site, but with comms down, he may not be able to report for a while, or may do so on FB, where I understand he is active. You could try a PM, but I really think it's going to take time to follow through on the communications. You can be sure the proprietors of the marina want to let everyone know. They're facing a disaster if they don't behave very well indeed. They know it, they're lovely people.

Zee's advice is excellent. All of this is now out of your hands. Worrying increases stress on you and your good man. Let it go, it's in the hands of the gods. Eventually they will contact you, when they are able. There is nothing you can do to affect that.
Keep on with your house sale, and trust me, things will work out, perhaps not in the way you originally planned. You, yourselves are well, bright, and determined. For now, just work on letting go of the fear. You'll cope.

Ann

Re: Still need info about our boat in San Carlos

Thanks evertone. I realize the situation is not easy down there. I am actually not expecting to hear from the manager for some time. But I have seen reports from others that have gotten information from friends of friends. It seemed prudent to ask, because one can not know if one is not asking.
Susswein, we have been active on the sancarlosmexico.Com site as S.V Gitana. I know we have seen you there : )
Funny enough, Jim and I have both been posting I under that name and Jim answered one of my posts. In essence he answered himself! Jim says there is someone going to the yard tomorrow. With luck his boat might be close enough to grab a photo or two. A shot of her attitude where she stands would greatly ease our minds.

We have been told that marina seca is emailing info and pictures to owners who have damaged boats. Our friends have received one of those emails, we have not. So it sounds like no news is good news. Cyndi. SV Rebecca

S/v Shameless has a Facebook page (or look it up on Facebook) listed on another thread asking about 50 knot winds. They are located in San Carlos. I suggest you message them (she responded to me very rapidly) and maybe they can run it down for you? Good Luck!

Re: Still need info about our boat in San Carlos

Hi Cyndi, we did get email from Omar. But it wasn'the our boat. If you know of anyone looking for info on a boat named Gitana, I don't know the boat manufacturer, but the name is on the side, green below the water line, I can forward what we recieved.
By the by we looked at Rebecca when weRe in SC. Pretty boat!
If I hear anything about her I will pass it on. I think you are right "no news is good news"
Zee and Ann are right too...I need to chill!
I hope you (Zee and Ann) will for give me if I have rude!

She's upright and looks good - 10 other boats are down in her row but she is up!

Re: Still need info about our boat in San Carlos

waiting is the ultra hard part. i have not noticed rudeness merely extreme anxiety from those experiencing unknown.
furycames suck it outta ye as they suck it outta your boat.
once you get back to your boat, please know that it is not merely the obvious damage that is worrisome, but stuff you cannot find until later. i suffered some of htese unseen damages from patricia. inspect your boat well. if it fell over, look for eggshell cracks in skin. look for delamination bubbles downhill from winches and cleats--hidden damages. before you send your claim, make sure all is inspected well. check all bulkheads..a traumatically leaned over boat will have compensatory damages..could be same side landing on ground and could be other side of boat due to stressors of having landed and for having fallen. chainplates, structure, bulkheads, all of it needs good inspection before sailing again.
one suggestion is to contact kjels christian in san diego to survey a group of boats--then send the claims in after the surveys.
is sad the amount of damages.
there is not much to say in the face of disaster and destruction. no shoulda woulda coulda bs. just tears and hugs.
and insurance claims.
to those of you with intact boats-- WHEW and thank gods.
so many familiar names--boats i have met while out here-- i hope all of you are ok and i hope that you donot stay away from mexicruisng.
i heard barra de navidad has had a particularly bad summer and no tourist dollars about. please go visit there and enjoy the beauty of the area.
