SSCA 2009 Florida West Coast Rendezvous - Punta Gorda, FL 10/16 & 10/17

Seven Seas Cruising Association 2009 Florida West Coast Rendezvous

The Seven Seas Cruising Association is a 10,000 member association that is the oldest and largest worldwide organization supporting the liveaboard and long distance cruising lifestyle. The 7th Annual Florida West Coast Rendezvous will be held on Saturday October 17, 2009 at the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda, Florida. On Friday October 16th there will be a happy hour at the Isles Yacht Club followed by small group dinners at several local restaurants. After the seminars on Saturday there will also be a happy hour followed by dinner at the Isles Yacht Club.

All SSCA events are open to both members and non-members alike. The Rendezvous consistently draws its limit of 200 people ranging from Tarpon Springs to MarcoIsland and beyond. Some clubs arrange a cruise to CharlotteHarbor and either anchor or stay at the public marina.

Go to Welcome to the Seven Seas Cruising Association and click on the SSCA Events tab for program details, cost, pre-registration information, directions and anchoring information. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 1. This event fills up quickly, so please sign up early.

Four seminars will focus on topics of interest to both coastal and long distance cruisers. In addition, attendees can move freely among about a dozen Roundtable discussion groups where they can listen and contribute.

Some of the seminars and Roundtable discussions scheduled at this Gam include:

Seamanship and Skills Necessary to Circumnavigate and Their Relevance to Everyday Coastal Cruising -presented by Robert & Elyse Brown, "Iron Mistress". This seminar applies to all levels of cruising.
Survival at Sea - presented by Winslow Liferaft
Boat Systems That Work - presented by Robert Brown, "Iron Mistress"
Two on a Boat: How to Keep it Afloat - presented by Josie Longo
