So am I gonna be able to sail to cuba! (Legally that is)

Obama is seeking to normalize relations with cuba. I wonder how long before we can sail over there and back with out issues.
Let's discuss

Re: So am I gonna be able to sail to cuba! (Legally that is)

For some reason another thread on this topic was locked on the grounds that it was unrelated to cruising. Really? One of the world's last virgin cruising areas, 90 miles from Florida, on every cruiser's bucket list? This is worth discussing, but let's keep politics out.

I sometimes tell friends that my next cruise will be to Cuba but I'm only joking. While it might be interesting, there are still many places in the USA for me to go without the language barrier and other potential problems.

I've not been to Cuba, but seeing as how only Americans are prohibited, I think calling it Virgin cruising territory may be a little overstating it?
I want to go too, when it's legal to do so.

It is certainly inevitable but how long is really hard to say. Politicians on both sides are more concerned with courting the block voters and getting the Florida electoral votes that they are about doing what is right or what is logical or what is beneficial to the country.

Since there is already a large crack in the wall, allowing visits for cultural or whatever nonsense excuse currently promoted, I'm thinking sooner rather than later. I would bet if Fidel passed on it would happen pretty quickly.

From the information I have been able to gather, tourism will not be included in the "normalization of relations" at this time. In time we can only hope things will change. This is a step in the right direction. His announcement is scheduled for noon today. Chuck
