Rebuilding marine life

GOOD NEWS - Our Oceans can be restored by 2050
“We have a narrow window of opportunity to deliver a healthy ocean to our grandchildren, and we have the knowledge and tools to do so.”

Marine ecologist Carlos Manuel Duarte led a review* that found ocean habitats, populations and ecosystems could be restored within 30 years — if we choose to do it.
The scientists say there is now the knowledge to create an ocean renaissance for wildlife by 2050, and with it bolster the services that the world’s people rely on, from food to coastal protection to climate stability. The measures needed, including protecting large swathes of ocean, sustainable fishing, and pollution controls, would cost billions of dollars a year, the scientists say, but would bring benefits 10 times as high.

Re: Rebuilding marine life

Thanks you Gord for a positive outlook post!

I'm sure we would all like to see that occur; remains to be seen whether or not the current or future political/economic climates will put that as a priority

Re: Rebuilding marine life

The World Wildlife Fund has stated that, if humans keep fishing at the current pace, there will be no more fish left in the oceans, by 2048.
This is going to make it really difficult to comfort someone who is going through a relationship break-up.
