Long Distance Lifeboat!!

Lifeboat from ship that broke up in the Atlantic during 2011 landed in South Australia's Coorong region today. What a remarkable journey.

Well not quite the threat to yachts that ship containers are, but still it has to be good that it is no longer at sea.

I wonder why she floated so bow-up.

They are designed to operate with the correct number of people 'survivors' on board. so if its a 20 man lifeboat it would need 20 in it to set to its correct water line.

Great story.

Re: Long Distance Lifeboat!!

Those lifeboats are the next best thing to a submarine... They are pretty much water tight and are very durrable, obviously!

When I did my Lifeboatman Training we packed 20 people in one of those and it was tight and stinky! I have yet to motor one and I would guess it would be rolly.

It seems the drills can be dangerous themselves.
