Legally Blind Sailor to Attempt RTW In a 20-Footer

Legally blind. 20 foot boat. Solo RTW.

What possibly could go wrong?

CNN story here.

Bout the same things that go wrong with a sighted sailor.

One visually impaired sailor has already sailed U.S -Bermuda IIRC

Sounds like he has a 5% field of vision in one eye, so he's not BLIND blind. He'll just have to move his head around a LOT to take in what's happening. Still, what's the over/under on how many days 'til the CG gets the call?

I must be missing something here. Certainly I do not begrudge anybody from doing what they want to do but what they want to do they may not be able to do.

What is going to happen when this courageous person in a 20 footer gets into trouble? Call out all the king's horses and all the king's men to be heroes again???? At what cost and to whom?? Wacky idea!
