Largest Iceberg soon to Calf

This caught my attention
Size of Delaware, 350m thick

Could something this size, floating freely change the behavior of Ocean Currents?

Why? From the article:

"Professor Luckman added that this is a geographical and not a climate event."

Ahh. but look on the bright side.. it may slow down the increasing salinity of the oceans.. its part of earths natural cycle.. something mankind knows little, claims much and speculates wildly about.

Increasing salinity? Where's the extra salt coming from? Since sea levels are supposedly rising and the only source for that rise is fresh water off the land, there must be a lot of salt coming from somewhere.

Doubtful, considering that the total amount of water it contains is only equivalent to about two hours discharge from the Amazon River.

Us in the main... via rivers, outflows from cities.. basically the wrong crap disturbing a delicate balance leading to de-oxygenation of the oceans.. artificial nutrients designed to kill anything but a particular crop.. where dya think it goes when it rains or is watered.. down to the water table or into streams and rivers.. and if you eat canned/processed food out there.. stop peeing over the side..
Okay.. balls in the air..

Correct, there is a thermosteric component, I should have said that the major source was fresh water from the land.

And expansion doesn't increase the salinity.

I have trouble getting my head around something the size of Delaware and 350m thick moving with the currents.

You would think if it got broadside to a major current, it could deflect it out of its normal path.

If you read carefully, he said "slow down the increasing salinity of the oceans".
I'm sure this has nothing to do with climate change though...
