Jacques Cousteau's "Calypso today" -SAD

I just wanted to pass along these pictures of the "Calypso" I took today at La Rochelle, France.
i understand after he passed away the family had a rif on what they were going to do with the boat, so far nothing. I beleave there is an efford to restore her.
This boat & its crew had a big influnce on many of us, so its sad to see her like this on the bottom

Wow!!

I often wondered what had happened to that boat of his!! Now we know!!

Man, Ram. Yes. That is sad.

When I was a young boy. I used to watch this program called "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau." Which ran for 7 seasons on TV. They always showed it during the weekends. And just about everyone in our family watched that program. I believe this man's program was one of the seeds that spawned my love for the sea.

In Loving Memory of Jacques Yves Cousteau.

Born 11 June 1910 in St.-Andre-de-Cubzac, France
Died 25 June 1997 in Paris, France from a heart attack

Inventor of the modern Aqua Lung.

Was a member of the French Resistance during World War II.

Pioneer in the field of underwater filming.

Described himself as an "oceanographic technician".

Father of Jean-Michel Cousteau, Philippe Cousteau and 'Diane Cousteau'.

Society of Operating Cameramen, (SOC) Recipient, Governors Award (1996).

The John Denver song "Calypso" is about him. It is named for Jacques' boat.

Point of information

The aqua lung was co-invented by Jacques Cousteau and Emille Gagnan in 1943.

That's sad. She really should be a floating museum of some sort. I hope they work that out.

Watching him on TV and reading about him really helped foster my love of the sea.
