Have You Seen S/V New Life ?

The MMSN has been putting out calls for the last couple days looking for S/V New Life. I believe she was last seen in Cuba on Jan 21st heading north toward the US via the Bahamas.

She's a Swiss flagged, 34' cutter-rigged sloop with a bowsprit, white topsides, and a blue dolphin painted on each side near the bow. There are 3 People on board, Thierry Echenard, wife Patricia, and son Marvin. If you see them, please ask them to contact their family.

Did S/V New Life make a mayday call?

Does the MMSN provide more context to this call?

From what I understand, MMSN was contacted by their family in Switzerland, who requested help contacting them. They haven't been heard from since they left Havana on Jan 21st.

Btw, you can listen to MMSN on 14300 or online here if you don't have a SSB or are out of range. They're putting the call out for info on S/V New Life periodically and at each shift change at the top of the hour.

Hopefully they are just enjoying the Bahamas....internet and phone service is limited there. But 2 months off grid is a bit worrying. Nice looking family, hope they are safe.

I heard earlier today that the "boat watch" had been canceled. I don't know the details, but evidently they had some sort of communication/internet problem. I'm guessing someone heard about them and let them know they needed to call home -- I think they're still somewhere in Cuba.

Unfortunately communation in Cuba is poor.

They posted a new blog entry today, and it looks like they made Key West on the 16th, AWOB...
