Family Vacation

Hey Guys,

The wife and I are looking to take a family vacation or possibly a 10th aniv. vacation with just the two of us. We have talked about a cruise (cruiseship). I think that since we want to get a boat later that we would be better served by trying to charter a boat (with captain). I have zero experience with this kind of deal. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or super big. We would like to go where it is warm so probably around florida/bahamas. Any suggestions would be great. Also, I know a number of you have chartered your own vessels. What kind of price am I looking at. Lets say 5-7 days all inclusive. While we're out I would like to learn as much as possible about the operation of the boat as well. Thanks for any feedback.

Here are links to a couple of charter companies. Most of the larger and many private ones offer crewed or captained charters. Moorings has a base in Marsh Harbor, Abacos, Bahamas. Probably the most popular charter destination is BVI.

You can get an idea on prices from them. Then use that to compare if you get another offer.

Sunsail would be the other major charter company. A captain can usually be acquired when you arrange the charter.
