Hopefully they treat Defender customers as good as they treat FortNine customers

That's encouraging. I'm not counting on it, but I'm being hopeful that FortNine wanted to get into marine sales and decided the best way to do it was to buy a company that's already good at it.

Uh oh, been shopping there for years (about 12) - often spending an average of 2k at the annual spring sale.

If they think pricing can come close to WM and thus increase profits, say good by to Defender.

Re: Defender acquired

Now that Amazon is selling marine hardware, I can't imagine Defender or West Marine can compete considering their ridiculous mark-ups.

Amazon is not that much cheaper but the quality is almost always cheaper.

Re: Defender acquired

I appreciate defender. Their product descriptions are generally a curate and more complete than other sources. Also I have used their Customer Service several times. And I believe they do international shipping.

It is the complete package that is the real value.

Amazon is still not a good marine source. They have some stuff, but for plenty of things they're either not the cheapest or they don't have any good quality options, only the cheap unknown quality ones.

Re: Defender acquired

Not to mention shoddiest even counterfeit goods sold by third parties in the "marketplace" with no effective warranty at all

while noobs think they are buying "from Amazon"

Personally I think they are a company more evil than Walmart ever was
