Cruisers University

All,

My wife and I attended the Cruisers University program at Annapolis this past week. If you are considering going cruising we both highly recommend it.

We took the 4 day program... the first two days I attended a basic diesel class and my wife took the "women and cruising" seminars. The remaining two days we took a variety of topics.

We thought the event was really well done and the best part was the camaraderie. Its one thing to be stuck on land and be able to go day sailing with friends that have no intention of long term cruising and another to be among folks that are as like-minded as you. The sentence..."we want to buy a boat and sail around the world" wasn't followed with "ARE YOU NUTS? YOU WILL DIE AND BE EATEN BY A GREAT WHITE OR KILLED BY PIRATES!"

Instead it was kind of like a coming-out party for cruisers! There were several cruiser parties and we got all-access passes for the Sailboat show events. My wife got to spend some time with other women and both share in the fear and the excitement. She was able to speak with women who were out there doing it and to hear a perspective I cannot give.

Anyhow... ya'll should attend.
