Coast Guard rescues 4 people from sinking sailboat in N.J. | NJ.com

Four people were rescued after their 38-foot sailboat hit a submerged jetty off Barnegat Light and began to sink, the Coast Guard said today.

I'm not familiar with those waters but that jetty didn't look too submerged to me. Nevertheless, I'm glad no one was hurt.

Parts of it are...especially at high tide a large section is barely awash or not at all...

Bing maps has a nice birds eye view of it.

Red on right on returning.

In Everett, we also have a submerged jetty at high tide. The power boaters luv to cut between the buoy and the main section and some sailboaters will follow.
It's a common event for the ignorant to nail their keel.
