::grumble:: smallest boat 41' ::mumble::

I've decided I want an expandable/contractable boat... LWL 50' when offshore, 25' when I come in to anchor/dock..

I have been trying to get info on this 2008 rally and it very elusive. What is up with the "1500" website. Anyone have a link that works?

It would be great to have a little more feedback on the rally--daily runs, motoring time, blogs from participants, etc. It looked like they had a better trip than last year, but for some reason the organisers went into the stealth mode.

Sounds like they had some windy days and a few squalls, but no "big" storms. Here's a quote from one of the participants' blog, "The last two days have been quite rough with winds 25-35 gusting higher in squalls with 10+ foot seas."

Link to a page with further links to a few blogs: Carib1500 Highlights

p.s. that's my boat pictured on the website's masthead.

FYI: They like to set a limit on boat size: 40 feet or over but that can be waived by special permission. It is a very well run event. I was involved in prepping one of the race boats (she came in last) anyone need a rigger??

It's a Great Event

Steve Black runs a first-class outfit. If you're thinking of heading to the Caribbean from the U.S. east coast in the Fall, you would be well-advised to consider going with the Caribbean 1500.
