If you could choose a cruising destination or have been lucky enough to have experienced some fantastic sailing on this little blue planet of ours would you like to share it here?

all the best.

Re: A Jolly Good Time.

Bahamas--700 islands spread out over 700 miles, crystal clear water, fantastic snorkeling and diving, great sailing, beautiful, warm, friendly, and fun places to visit ashore.

That's true. Med. sounds fantastic too. But for someone coming from this side of the Pond they will spend a lot more to get to the Med than the cost of a cruising permit. Don't know where the OP is starting from. There are lots of great places to sail in the world--depends on what you are looking for in terms of a "Jolly Good Time."

Mate I am based on the Sunshine coast here in Oz. I do like the tropical island cliche but is there a point at which once you have seen one, well you know..

To each his own. The beauty here on the East Coast of North America is you can day hop for several thousand miles between Nova Scotia and the Bahamas, with a cozy and interesting anchorage each night. From rocky pine clad shores and cold waters to tropical coral waters and back again. If you want to get really remote and don't mind ice and such you can almost coastal hop, with just a few modest passages, up to Labrador and Greenland. There's just about every type of sailing you might want.

Re: A Jolly Good Time.

I would dearly love to sail to the med via the red sea.As i am born in southern Africa I would prefer to sail thru Asia then onto the med.
If i am not mistaken the amount of piracy events are declining around Somali waters, or is it still a case of doom awaits ye here. And here be dragons?

based out of nice/villefrance
in one day,i could have my boat in the free anchorage, spearfishing in crystal clear waters, before breakfast, having coffee and a brioch, reading the "Time's" by 8am,lunch and skiing on the slopes, stroll around the ancient quarter of nice as the sun set, back to the boat for a nap, then dinner carte de joure' for$10 on the promenade before a walk round the night market, then party at a top club or beach party till dawn with a danish,french,german,.......bird , returning to the boat for some gratuious sex............
