Yellow Stars Under Names
What are the stars beside my name and other peoples names all about? Am I a bad person because I only have one?

The stars are a secret code for the forum so all the insiders know how bad you really are.
Would you believe the stars indicate how many posts you have made to the forum? The more you post the more stars turn yellow. Either indicates your insightful contributions to the forum or just that you are an opinionated motor mouth.

Not because you have only one star. I think you get a second star at 60 posts. It's been a while and Andy may have changed the thresholds. If you are a bad person we send you a private message remind you of the rules. If you get really bad we allow you to walk the plank so you can't come back.
We used to have cute titles under the stars for each level but we got rid of those and just show "registered user"
Since the number of posts you have is also shown it's just a quick reference for members to see how long and active you have been here at Cruisers Forum.

The stars get "yellowed" when you post:
1 Yellow Star = 10 posts
2 Yellow Stars = 50 posts
3 Yellow Stars = 100 posts
4 Yellow Stars = 250 posts
5 Yellow Stars = 1000 posts
Honorary Title Moderator Emeritus = 15,000+ posts (just so everyone has something to shoot for .)

Not true.
You have to retire from moderating, leaving Andy just a little pissed off at you.
BTW: "Emeritus" means; retired from active duty, but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement.

What about the green boxes?
If you touch somebody's box there seems to be 3 levels:
'will receive many accolades'
'helpful poster'
'has received may accolades'
And then there is MarkJ who has 2 boxes.

Aw, c'mon Gord . . . just having a little fun . . . I know what emeritus means.
(Perhaps we need to add something to Gord's title . . . hmmm . . . how about Moderator Emeritus, Cumudgeon for Life?)

I used to think that the stars were a little childish, until I got 4. Now I can see they are a valuable tool.

I don't think Gord is a curmudgeon.
My definiton of one more or less corresponds with this wikipaedia one: "An ill- tempered (and frequently old) person full of stubborn ideas or opinions." Or perhaps stubbon old ideas.
(I don't think this of our member Curmudgeon, either) In fact I think Gord can't fit that bill because he's helpful and more upto date because of his ability to squeeze the best from Google and the net. A curmudgeon couldn't and wouldn't.

curmudgeon
1577, of unknown origin; Johnson's suggestion that it is from Fr. coeur mechant "evil heart" is no longer taken seriously; the first syllable may be cur "dog."

But there isn't a whole lot better defining it.
the only reason I mention that is it seems to have become more popular in the last few years.
