Yanmar 2gm20f oil discharge

I recently changed the oil on my 2gm20f (1978) which had been running just fine. I ran it in for .5 hours under load and it dumped all the crankcase oil into the bellhousing (and ultimately into the bilge:-(

I used Rotella diesel oil, 10w50.

Am I looking at a rear main seal replacement?

so how long did the motor run without oil .. until the alarm went off? just wondering why you were using 10W50? yanmar recommends 30 weight. sure sounds like rear main seal .. you may be able to get a scope in there
