Any hope giving the spammer's details to PayPal could help then block this type of scam?

So that's me banned then!

Re: WARNING- SCAMMER ON FORUMS

Having had time to look back at how I was scammed. It was identical to how DDabs was done. Be ware of member called 'Gink' who has a mate with what you are after. In my case mate was Mike Stewart hohna654@gmail.com
payment to dnikima80@gmail.com I was instructed to make a gift payment via paypal. I did not realize this takes away any right to claim against paypal
Dumb me. All attempts to contact these shisters has obviously failed.
Only a small amount of money, more annoying getting scammed by these wasters pisses me off

Mick, I have banned Gink. Sorry this won't help you, but he was in the process of sending another private message to a CF member when I stopped him.

Well. You know we have members everywhere. It is not impossible to find people who leave obvious traces. Also in Nigeria ... ;-)

Glad to hear you got your money back.

The MIB may have paid him a visit. I hope they call in on 'Gink' as well

So he wasn’t a scammer then or was he? Did you slander someone with a false accusation over a misunderstanding......? What really happened now that you look back?

+1. I use PayPal whenever possible for this reason. Have used the dispute resolution process a few times and it works. One time was sort of humorous. I bought an item from a guy, paid w PayPal, received item and it had some issues. He ignored my messages for about a week...so I filed a dispute via PayPal. He responded in less than 24 hours and was VERY eager to resolve the issue...turns out it was his wife's business PayPal account! [emoji1787]

Super glad to learn this.

Folks - when you have a suspicion of a problem please report it to the site team asap - we will do our best to to investigate.

The best sort of report is to use the report function on the PM you get from someone. The report button is in the top right hand corner of every PM and when you click to send the report we get a copy of the message and a link / record of the account that it was sent from.

Janet, good to know! If I had been the OP, I would have assumed it was a scam as well, and who knows, maybe it still was, but he refunded to avoid negative consequences . . . not sure what they might have been, given the difficulty of pinning down scammers, but you never know! Plus the thread resulted in some other probably scammers being banned as well! Win win!
