Uploading Pictures
Hey Guys, you are dealing with a guy here who does not know very much about computers. Can someone please tell me how to download picutures from "my pictures" on my computer, to some "threads" I want to post on your web site. When I go to the Icon it ask me for a web site to get pictures from and my pictures are not on a web site. Thank you for your help.

- Click "browse" Then select the file to be uploaded. Be sure that the photo is appropriately sized. 1600 x 1600 pixels (or smaller) and no more than 400 Kb. Forums software will automatically reduce the size, but smaller size photos will upload much faster. You may select several photos to upload at the same time by repeating the last step.
- Click "Upload" After pics have loaded close the pop-up window
- Click "submit reply" to mount the text of your message - photos will automatically appear at the bottom of your post.
How to embed an image stored on another site:
You can do this by using image tags. Upload the image to a service like imageshack and then copy the URL of the image and put that between [IMG] tags. That will work well, as long as the host site stays in business and doesn't disable your image for overuse of bandwidth etc.
You can also paste in the location of a photo stored here at Cruisers in the photo gallery.
To do this: Paste the url of the image into your post. Then add the following code on either side of the url (with no extra spaces):
[IMG]url here[/IMG]
The image will appear where the url was in your text.

That is post #10 from the "sticky" thread at the top of this Forum called Forums 101 - Posting, Accounts, Basics.

What I have never been able to figure out with pics on my computer is how to write some text, insert a pic, write some text, insert etc.

If you use the attachment button you can't do that.
If you use the insert image button you can, but they have to be hosted somewhere the servers can get to, not on your computer.

I can get them from my pc but I don't know how to put text between the pics like for captions and such.
Not that big a deal though since I don't have much to offer.

Therapy it depends on what you are displaying them in. Many systems have a place to provide captions with the photos. When you upload photos here you are given an opportunity to add titles and captions. These will show when you look at the photo from a gallery.
If you are wishing to have captions in a post then you just insert text between each photo. When you insert photos it can be tricky to get the cursor to appear, but by using the return button to open space up between images you can get some working space.
If on the other hand you are doing something that requires the caption travel with the photo, or want to do something so that the text appears ON the photo then you will need a software program that allows you to edit photos. Photoshop and corel photo paint are two such programs but there are other simpler (smaller and cheaper or free) that will allow you to do this as well.
If this helped, great, if it just confused you further or I missed the issue you are having try finding a link to an example of what you want to do and we can try and figure out how you can do it!

Everyone has something to offer. If you use the attachment button it pops up a box that allows you to upload. You won't be able to put text around it though. The Bristol logo is "attatched" to this post.
In the above post I linked to a picture and was therefore able to place it into the text. You will need a place to host your photos to do this.
Hope that helps.
