Thread closed?

A thread that I started in the "auxiliary equipment" forum was just closed. There's no comment explaining the closure, and I didn't receive a PM. I can't figure out why the thread was closed as there was nothing that looked remotely like a terms of service problem. What happened?

The thread linked below is closed for any reason. I don't know the logic to be able to close a thread but I suppose a mistake. I can't imaging that thread starter merrimac has closed this? Can you see the history?
If you agree it's a mistake would you mind open it again?
