Search for previous threads on topic
Sorry all for such a basic question.
How do you search for previous threads on your topic of interest to avoid repetitiveness for other members?

Re: Search for previous threads on topic
Near the top of the page there is a blue/green bar with a bunch of navigation links. Starts with "Upgrade" "User CP"... About midway across is "Search", which will bring up a page you can fill out to detail your search.
There used to be a Google custom search link there as well that sometimes worked better, although I haven't seen it lately. You can create the same function by going to Google and typing:
site:cruisersforum.com your search words
Either way works, depending on what you are looking for one may be better than the other.

Re: Search for previous threads on topic
Have you used it lately? I'm running Chrome 77 on Win 10 (1903) and there is no longer a Google custom search option that I can find. Only option seems to be the site search page. As posted, I know how to get around that, but wonder if it's my setup or a change to the site.

I am using Google Chrome Version 77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) (64-bit) and the Google custom search option is there for me.

I just reloaded the app and found the search icon on the top bar.
Thank you to all for your help.

Yes. I'm using FireFox and it is in the search tab.
The Custom Google search is not great but is a lot better than the standard search that depends on perfect description syntax.

Re: Search for previous threads on topic
This is a clip of CF Search Panel. Google Search works better than basic search, but I've never been overly impressed by either. Will try the .com link-Thanks. Laptop Win10 Firefox / Len

It all depends...kinda like boat systems and equipment!
For example, every once in awhile I come across a question on this or other boating forums, about dorm fridges. So I come here and do an advanced search on that by sailorchic34. The "lousy" search engine here finds it every time.
And for generic searching, like "How do I go from A to B and how long will it take?", no amount of searching gonna find that beauty.
OTOH, the basic search is not a bad place to start.
Good luck, whatever choice you make to find stuff.
And thanks for trying that approach first, rather than "I know it's been asked a zillion times, but I can't find it..."

Go to the appropriate forum from the "Forums" menu item (or by going to Cruisers & Sailing Forums - Powered by vBulletin ) and look for the "New Thread" button on the left just above the list of threads.
