Safety Alerts

I wish to post a safety alert relating to the catastrophic failure of a steering pedestal, supplied by a well known manufacturer, in a manner the could put lives at risk if repeated.

I have toured the site in some detail but have not found a forum that seeems specifically tailored towards this sort of issue.

Any suggestions relating to this site and/or alternative sites that could ensure widespread exposure?

The correct Forum for your post is this one:

Product or Service Reviews & Evaluations - Cruisers & Sailing Forums

However, please be advised that the Product Review Forum is not designed to be a member's soapbox to lambaste the manufacturer of a product nor the provider of a service with claims that are of the sort that amount to a serious and highly contentious consumer complaint. Please take a few minutes to read our Community Rules, especially this part:
Quote:
Dealer/Vendor and Customer Disputes:
This forum is not intended to be a mechanism for people to vent frustrations about vendors or sales from private parties. Please settle your differences with the seller, manufacturer and dealer through the long-established legal or arbitration systems or the Better Business Bureau but not through our community.
If you can make a factual post that is free om emotion and name-calling, and which seeks only to bring those facts to other members without drawing what may seem to you like obvious conclusions, and which omits the names of individuals affiliated with the manufacturer or service provider, then make your post.

It will be closely scrutinized by the site staff to ensure that it conforms to the section from the Rules quoted above. If it is found to violate the Cruisers Forum Rule on Dealer / Vendor and Customer Disputes, then it will be removed from public view until it can be brought into compliance. If it cannot be edited in such a way that it is acceptable, it will remain out of public view.

Thanks, Bill . . . yes, our Rule is definitely written from an American point-of-view. Your suggestion of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is the more appropriate entity, in this case.

Thanks all

This

"If you can make a factual post that is free of emotion and name-calling, and which seeks only to bring those facts to other members without drawing what may seem to you like obvious conclusions, and which omits the names of individuals affiliated with the manufacturer or service provider, then make your post"

is exactly what I was intending.

I am preparing a post along those lines
