RSS and Cruisers Forum: How-To

Hi,

I am a new member here. I want to make this post to inform you of a way to the date with what is happening in this and other forums/sites.

Google Reader allows you to subscribe to sites/forums using RSS. To log into reader http://www.reader.google.com

In Firefox and other browsers there is an orange icon. If you click on it you can subscribe and receive the latest posts as soon as they are posted.

You log into Google Reader and add the following address by clicking 'Add Subscription'.

You then add the following address of this forum:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/....php?type=RSS2

In this way you will be notified in the reader as soon as a new post is posted.
This applies to this and any other forum/site/blog which supports RSS.

If you need any more help, reply here.

Send a message via Skype™ to Pblais
Getting every post sent to you as part of an RSS feed might be nice if the traffic was low, but we get enough posts during the day that most users will have an overflowing list of messages. For this forum I think it is a poor idea to subscribe to everything via RSS.

Going to the portal page and selecting "new posts" from the top of the banner will display all the posts you might have missed since you were last here. An RSS feed is just going to send you a list for ALL posts posted all the time. the portal page will let you pick from everything you missed. No one reads everything. If you subscribe to notification you get an email when any thread you are subscribed to is active.

True, I was just providing an option in case some people do not know. I am not forcing anyone to change.
I just found out now you can subscribe via RSS to a section also.
