James - I may have found your problem.

At the top if your screen click User CP
There is a menu bar along the left side - click edit options
Scroll all the way down to Miscellaneous Options
Change the Editor to either Standard or Full WYSIWYG
Click Save Changes

I suspect you may be set on "Basic Text Box" editor.

Let me know what happens.

By the way I had problem when quoting, I do one quote and then all the quote buttons on all the posts disappear, I have to refresh the thread to do more quote, maybe it is that I did not use the multiple quotes button. I will try it next time that I have to multiquote. bye.

Yes - Clearly what is happening is you are hitting the "Quote" button first.

In that case the editor screen starts. You can see the posts below the editor box but you can't select them or do anything with them.

Click the "Quote Mark" button for each post you want to quote first (you can also do this across multiple pages of posts) then "lastly" hit the "Quote" button.

The editor will then start with all the posts separated by quotation tags.

Since there isn't a test-forum I'll just stick it to this thread....trying to find out why the alineation cq line breaks in my editor get messed up when finally shown online....and with only a limited time-window of correction/editing I can't test it well in my actual postings....so better here.
Sample 1 / single line break....

Sample 2 / double line break....

Hmm, strange, no messing up now....
Wonder what might have gone wrong then in my previous postings....
