Possible scam alert

I placed an ad in the classifieds looking for a Windvane. https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...39934.htmlwith the hande of " Josh4live ". New sign up, zero post. Gave me an (831) area code of a friend who had a "Hebridean" windvane which is a kit vane out of Aus.

I became very suspicious when our correspondence seems choppy and out of sync somehow. Maybe he was 8 hours out of my time zone...but (831) is Santa Cruz,Ca. I had to ask for price and pictures about 3 times. When I received 2 pictures, they were copies of what was on Google images and out of Australia. They have been mute since.

My take away is never do any form of commerce wit someone that has not been a member for at least a year and has over 100 posts.

I actually let it go on a couple of days so I could get as much information as I could.

A heads up if you’re still looking. Hebridean (based in UK not AUS) is great. I just ordered one about a month ago. John is great to deal with and actually just lowered his already insanely affordable prices.

There is no Brace33 that I can find in our membership.

Has posted 3 times. Each time giving out emails to people looking for something in classifieds. He has also had contact with "Scandoc". Perhaps a possible sleeper on the forum or the same person.

EVERYBODY: If somebody with no posts or very low number of posts indicates they have a friend trying to sell whatever you want, it's probably a scam.

Re: Possible scam alert

KuryD is gone.

If you get a suspicious PM flag it for the mods to investigate.

The way to flag/report is to click on the triangular icon at the top right of every PM and the bottom left of every post. This sends an email to every mod including the text of the relevant post or PM, who wrote it and it starts a thread in a Mods only forum so we don’t forget to follow up.

Just received another one with no posts and an email address.

"Hi and a Happy New Year,

We are dealers in CMap NT or CMap Max . We are located in Oakland CA and can arrange delivery. Please email me on Jamiearaiza@protonmail. com ."

I sent a report.

Ya...not sure what the end result is if I sent a message to their email but I have a feeling it wasn't in my best interest.
