Popup Add Worm IPhone

Anyone else having this problem with this site? A “You’ve Won a free IPhone” add pops up on this site and takes control until I erase my browsing history or restart my iphone. Very annoying. It only happens on cruisersforum or sailnet. It was so irritating on sailnet, I never go to the site.

The screen goes to this, then locks up my iphone. It happens all the time on cruisersforum.

All the time. Sometimes multiple times a day. Thought it was just me.

Are you seeing this on the mobile view or using the cf mobile app?

I use the full site view which I guess would be the mobile view, and it only shows up when I’m on cruisers forum or when I try sailnet.

Re: Popup Add Worm IPhone

I’m having the same exact issue on an iPhone 6. Happens constantly. However, I downloaded the Firefox browser for the iPhone and it doesn’t happen in Firefox, only in safari.

Not seen it, although I’m on the App with an IPad.
Try the App as a fix for now

You can run Firefox on an Apple product? Just downloaded, learned something

No, you’ve actually won the free phone! Just send me $995 for handling (I’ll pay the shipping) and it’ll be on the way!

On sites that do that, go into airplane mode, then return to the browser and back up or kill the tab, then restore wifi/cell.

The forum Webmaster really needs to do something about this issue. I can’t be the only one constantly pestered by these annoying popups that originate only on this site.

Yeah, my iPhone Firefox doesn’t have it, but Safari still does. Please CF webmaster... there has to be a way to fix this. Been happening for over a year.

This is delivered via ads targeted at iphone users (safari) and is essentially a cookie set as you surf by the advertiser so they can show you more garbage. These ads are served up by google, and others and we have no real control or ability to block them.

Doing a reboot (which purges cookies) offers some short term relief but is not a real solution.

You can also configure safari to block some of these. Here's some help wit that: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203987
