I think its a great idea to provide for the option of paying for a premium membership. A computer website that I frequent does this with success.

Personally, the advertisements don't bother me. At least it is not like television where about one-third of your viewing time is spent watching something other than the show itself.

I'm using Firefox and no adds at all. Also I have some anti-adds programs running so maybe this also helps...

Well, I'm going to run right out and buy a gross of the brain health bars the wavy hand guy is horking. Since I've been working hard over the years destroying brain cells with the evil gin I'm thinking the bars might reverse the process?

And yes, I watched the whole damn ad to find out what it was he was carrying on about.

I've come to ignore the hand waving guy! So much so that I can drive down the freeway now with people waving their hands at me and I don't even see them. Also people in crosswalks and on bicycles. Especially jaywalkers.

Hey... now in between the obnoxiously annoying hand waving guy ads, I am only too thrilled to discover I'm a winner! Really-I finally won!!!

How lucky is that!

(who actually falls for that crap anyhow?)

And yes, that is what I was originally asking for. The option of becoming a premium member with no ads. The premium member could experience some added benefits such as live chat, or some other enhanced services. For you folks that don't seem to mind... business as usual.

And by the way... how many administrators are on this site anyway? Seems to be quite a crowd. Do you guy's/gal's have an annual Christmas party or anything?

Often, but not alway, the banner ad “covers” up the drop down menus above it.
Ie: Quick Links: First 4 choices (today’s posts, etc) are hidden behind the banner.

We have banner ads?

and a Christmas party?

I knew there were bigger rewards to this job than just that fantastic paycheck and bigger avatar...

I’ve grown to accept “Waving Guy” as a close friend of mine. I open up Cruisersforum, and his enthusiastic, endearing, and slightly pathetic (desperate for attention) slight head tilt and frantic wave draw me in and say,

“Hello friend! Welcome back!!! Can I offer you some Brain Health Bars again?!?!?!”

and I say,

“No thanks Waving Guy, but I am glad to see you are still enjoying your job. Stay healthy, and enjoy the great benefits and vacation time that the professor gig gets you.”

If you take him away, please put some young shapely women in his spot….with the same enthusiasm level and less clothing (which is what companies are supposed to do anyway…come on Kelloggs).

Thanks!!

We use 'Spybot: Search and Destroy' and 'Spywareblaster' together as ad buster and syware removal tools...fantastic and totally free. We literally have not had a pop-up in years. Spybot was created by a German fella who works for tips only, I don't know who made Spyblaster. Hint, turn off your firewall when installing and don't forget to turn it back on when finished.

Oh, I am no techie, I am a two fingered (And a thumb) typer. My antivirus is AVG, also free and uses way less memory than Nortons or Mcafee (sp?).

Before I discovered all this free stuff, we would get 40 to 50 pop-ups EVERY time we changed pages. Almost turned us off the internet.

I know the lure of Mo money is tempting, but don't do it. This site will never be the same. Like Daddy always said "Dance with who brought you" There are other free cruising sites that will be glad for the new members and growth if you start charging here. Almost every day there are new "Welcome aboard" posts. Start charging and they'll be about as common as hens teeth.

In the event that Andy decides to add a "premium" paid membership feature - nothing will change for those who don't choose to pay for additional benefits (whatever they may be).
The CruisersForum, as you know it now, will remain free.

I have never noticed ads on here. But then I went through the 60s, 70s and 80s and I don't notice a lot of things. What ads? What a long strange trip it's been. I can't believe I read this whole thing. Now stop sniveling...
