Owner's Forum

Hey,
is there a thread on here that I can't find where people that own certain makes/models can sound off about their likes and dislikes about their boat?

I'd love to see what owners think of their Gemini 105's because that is on the short list of boats I am looking at but it'd be cool to hear about some of the other models as well.

You can ask such questions in either the "Mono hull forum"/"Multihull Forum" depending on which type the boat you want to discuss is.

It might be a nice feature for us to add formal areas for different manufacturers where their customers could have discussions as suggested above. Maybe we should consider this? The next version of the software has a system where members can setup groups (like Gemini Owners Group) so that could work out well for this.

Ummm, how many boat makes are there?? That's going to be a very very long list. Could be fun though. Yeah I'm keen.

SailboatOwners.com has “A forum for your sailboat” (well over a hundred makes listed)
Goto:
Sailboat Owner Forums

They also have "Owner Reviews" (photos, specifications and ratios);
Sailboat owner reviews, photos, specifications

I am a big fan of owners groups. You find out what's wrong with the boats and why people still love them. No one but an owner can tell you that. Some owners groups are out there now and I don't see people jumping from those established boards to come here but there are a lot of owners that have almost no owners group or groups that would like to move.

With the modern advances in our own software perhaps we can make them wotk better here. Having CF in the same building makes it also a short trip downstairs to your personal owners group. Most owners groups are open to all interested so if there is a boat anyone out there is thinking about find the owners group!

It would be nice to have an owners group registry available on the site with the links to get there. I'm not sure about what tools would work well. Perhaps a alphabetical grouping as a thread with a top sticky. New groups found get added to the thread then removed when the sticky is updated.

The one owners group I want to see will make me register and accept the "terms of usage" after I give info.

Have you ever read one of those all the way through?

I see one benifit already. Seafox just made a comment

He maybe talking to himself (he used to that anyway;-) for a short time only. Once a Forum titled "Allan Wright Lotus 10.6" is created, anyone in the world googling about any of those words are going to get listings fro that Forum. So Seafox may not be talking to himself for long.
