NMEA Debugging - Extra Spaces

Dear Mods/Systems Folk,

The forum is doing something odd with strings longer than 50 characters, it inserts an extra space when the material is posted. This affects people who are helping debug NMEA, the extra space throws off the calculations.

Here's a picture of a recent post in the edit window:

Note the section "0.00,33.4" - there is no space.

When posted, however,

A space gets added after the "0.00". This is very consistent, happens to multiple posters, in multiple threads.

In this post I went into the "Edit" function after the post was completed and the space was not there in the edit window, it only shows up in the final post. So you can't edit after posting to remove the space, it just isn't there in the edit window.

You can see this in this thread and this one amongst many others.

Re: NMEA Debugging - Extra Spaces

Hi - This is related to changes as browsers update and has occurred intermittently over the years. There have been no recent code changes to the forum. The simple solution for most folks with this issue is to change their user settings here at the forum to use the standard or basic reply editor rather than the WYSIWYG editor.

here's a link to make those changes: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...do=editoptions

Scroll down to the misc section, make the change and then scroll to the bottom of the page and save. (this last bit is really important).
