I can help you with that. I'm on a mac but that's not an issue.

I assume you wish to use a picture of your own, located on your hard drive. It must be small, 80 by 80 pixels max and 25k file size. There are forum avatars to choose from as well.

Check the top right side of the page here. Under the sailboat in the banner, under where it says "welcome skippy". There is a "quick links" drop down arrow.

Click on quick links, then "edit your details". When the page loads, on the left side menu, click, "edit avatar".

I'll be back, gotta go look at that page.

When you get to the edit avatar page you can use one of the cartoons listed (Never seen that yet) or use your own image. To choose an image of your choice look below that, scroll down to see it. "use custom avatar"

Option 1 is for a picture that is located on a hosting service like Imageshack or Photobucket, etc. In that case the link to the image goes there.

Option 2 is for an image on your hard drive which can be uploaded directly to the forum servers, with the limitations noted. In that case you would click "browse" to find the location of the image on your drive and select "open" it for upload. Once selected the file name will show up in the text field there. Just below that, click on "save changes".

If that doesn't make sense let me know, I'll help you figure it out.

Who says there's nothing to do in Alabama?

I've been around the world a few times. Many years ago while traveling when mentioning being from Alabama the immediate response was "With a banjo on my knee".

More recently the response is "Sweet Home Alabama". Thanks to Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I promise I've never kissed my cousins... ....well, not with my mouth open anyway.

Edit your avatar

It's not that you have a mac.

In order to have your photo show here on the forums, do this:

Go to your profile. Click "edit profile pic". (Left column)
Upload image from your computer. Hit "save changes" at the bottom.
Viola! Your image will be in your PROFILE.
However, to get it to appear here on the forum, you must go to SETTINGS AND OPTIONS - edit AVATAR. (also on the left column) Your pic here on the forum is considered an avatar.
I didn't understand this when I first came onboard. Some kind soul helped me.
Hope this helps you too.

By the way, mine also said "file upload failed", but your pic will show on your profile anyway. (Maybe this IS a mac thing.)

Click on USER CP in the blue bar at the top of the main page. Your pic will probably be there.

It won't show on the forums unless you "edit avatar"

Let me know how it goes...

Looks like your avatar pic is 14 by 7 pixels. I think if you re-edit your image and upload it again in a larger size you'll be good to go.

BTW, the profile picture and the avatar picture doesn't have to be the same image, but it can be as is womensetsail's.

Forgive the bump, but the 30 minute edit limit is.... limiting.

About the size requirements. It states 80 by 80 pixels or 25kb whichever is smaller. I changed mine to an image that is 90 by 119 pixels but it is 25kb so it loaded fine.
